Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. Mitchell joined CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In the following two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell is a former panelist as well as presenter of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debate in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her contribution to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news issues, such as the weapons control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to various summits while in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
